Ushers

Ushers welcome people to the service, distribute bulletins and help seat people efficiently and comfortably. They serve other functions in the service, as well. At St. Mary’s, we use the passing of the offering plates as an opportunity to share our gratitude to God. The ushers help gather the offering, and then take those gathered contributions to the altar, along with the bread and wine, as part of our offering to God.

Ushers also help guide the congregation to the altar rail to receive the Eucharist, or Holy
Communion, and then help guide them back to their seats after they have received.
